Kirsty and Karen – East Quay

Here at Minty Slippers we love same sex weddings. It’s a wonderful time to be alive where 2 people who love each other can finally express that by getting married as others have done so for more years than I can count. What makes them even more special for us is that our couples are quite literally writing the rule book for years to come on what will eventually become ‘traditional’. Who walks down the aisle first? Who asks who to marry them? For us this gives us some of the most unique wedding days yet.

or Kirsty and Karen they had a shared love of the seaside so decided where better to get married than at the East Quay Venue in Whitstable along with oysters for the drinks reception and proper fish and chips for the wedding breakfast.

Our wonderful couple started their day with a first look by the beach huts just by the venue. I can’t tell you just how excited each of them was as they waited in their car before walking to the hut. This was it, the first time they would see their beloved in their wedding dress just before they said their own custom vows to each other.

Following the ceremony their guests were treated fresh oysters and live music as Kirsty and Karen braved the damp weather to take some couple shots on the beach before re-joining their guests.

We found the perfect soundtrack for their day at The Music Bed with songs by Landon Austin and Animal Island.
