Practice makes perfect

Wedding videography for us is more than just a job. Its about creating a piece of work which really captures your day as well as something we can be proud of.

Every wedding is like a live TV show. We get no second chances to go back and re-shoot a scene because we were in the wrong place or missed something. So whenever we get the chance to attend a rehearsal we jump at the opportunity and are always glad we did.

This weekend is the wedding of Miss Maria Corkerry and Mr Jamie O’Neill (no relation). At first glance the church looks very much like any other town church. A rather un-assuming exterior with the usual big door, but once inside everything changes. A celling which seems to go on forever and a lovely long aisle give this the perfect setting for any wedding.

We were there to attend the ceremony rehearsal, which is useful so we know whats happening when as this helps us ensure we are pointing the cameras in the right direction. We are also able to find out the finer details like will everyone be sitting or standing. Thankfully everyone is sitting so this means we can use our Glidecam to walk down with Maria as she moves across the aisle. They will be using their own wireless microphones so we need to ensure ours don’t clash and the all important “Where can we stand” question. Many smaller churches find you a cupboard with a hole whereas this venue had a nice pillar to stand behind but still close enough to get some closeup shots of the couple while I keep my attention on the guests and orchestra.

So by having the ability to go through things just the once we can sketch out how we plan to capture the shots but also stay out of the photographers way.
